Project Outline: Last week, we ended up spending the entire class discussing the mural, which was great, but we didn’t get around much to doing art. The adults just drew and painted whatever they wanted while we talked. The mural ideas essentially boiled down to this; the men wanted a more graphic scheme in colors of blue depicting a chain being broken by hands. The women wanted their mural to be more organic in the colors of blue, yellow, and lilac. The image they decided on was two hands holding a butterfly, and perhaps the evolution of seasons from winter to spring in the background. The common mural on the first floor may be a combination of more helping hands and open doors. The ideas were so fantastic, and I was really impressed with the group. Today’s lesson plan will be to basically do what I had intended last week –the finishing of the poetry in pictures themed idea.
